Friday I'm in love
I hope some of you were able to get out to the thing at the place with the stuff I told you about a few posts back? You know the party that Nordic Council Film Prize threw to kick start the competition. The place was packed and after awhile people had to walk as penguins just to get to the bar where they served organic beer or the choice of red or white wine. This place where it was held, Brofstet (Bridgesupport is what it means. I know, weird name, right?) was actually kinda cool. It was small and had art here and there and as you can see someone thought the statue of Lenin needed a beer.
They were as I wrote earlier promoting the Nordic films Metropia from Sweden, The Naked Man (Den nakna mannen) from Finland, Submarino from Denmark, The Good Heart from Iceland and Upperdog from Norway. And to not make this post feel like an echo of a previous post I thought why not go deeper into the film Metropia.
Metropia takes place in a not to distant future. The world is running out of oil and the subways all around Europe have been connected to each other to become this giant network of subways. Roger, our main guy, hears a strangers voice in his head every time he steps on the subway. He turns to a mysterious woman named Nina to help him escape this network. However the further away he gets, the more involved in a conspiracy he becomes.
The director Tarik Saleh says he was very inspired by both Franz Kafka and George Orwell in the way to view the world around you. He had an idea, a vision that he wanted to create so he then turned to Swedish screenwriters Stig Larsson and Fredrik Edin and together the three of them wrote the screenplay. Since Metropias international premiere at the film festival in Vienna 2009, where it won The Future Film Digital Award, it has been invited to over 45 different festivals worldwide. Here in Sweden it's already available at almost any video store or you can pick it up online. However, if you are like me and love the cinema experience you can see Metropia at Klarabiografen by Kulturhuset tomorrow at 2 o clock or Wednesday at 4 o clock.
